Figure 3: FIC50 and FIC90 based isobolograms (graphs 1&2 respectively)of embelin mixtures with CQ when they were combined at ratios of 7:3, 5:5 and 3:7 (CQ/embelin). They were used at a concentration equivalent to 16XIC50 and 1XIC50 for CQ and embelin respectively. Normally, in the isobologram design, the two drugs should be mixed at ratios of 16 times their IC50 but the hemolytic effect of embelin urged us to use it at lower concentration which was (1XIC50). The straight line represents line of additivity while the broken line represents the FIC50 and FIC90 based isobologram curves.
